지상 356m, 목숨 걸고 걷는 산책로 개장

 

The highly anticipated "EdgeWalk" at the CN Tower, Toronto's most extreme attraction, opened to the public Monday.
캐나다 토론토 최고의 관광 명소인 CN 타워가 사람들의 많은 관심을 받아온 ‘에지워크’를 1일(현지 시간) 일반에 공개했다.

Standing 553 meters tall, Canada's national tower CN Tower is the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere and defines the skyline of Toronto. Completed in 1976, the television tower is celebrating its 35th anniversary.
CN 타워의 높이는 553m로 서반구에서 가장 높은 독립된 구조물이다. 토론토의 스카이라인을 상징하는 이 방송 전파 송출탑은 1976년에 완공돼 올해 35주년을 맞았다.

The construction of the EdgeWalk project takes three years to complete with the expenses of approximated 24 million yuan.
에지워크 프로젝트는 완공하는데 3년이 걸렸고 건설비용은 약 2400만 위안(한화 약 39억5000만 원)이 들었다.

The newly opened EdgeWalk attraction offers adventure seekers the chance to walk hand-free on a mere 1.5-meter wide ledge of the tower, 356 meters (about 116 storeys) above the ground, marking the first of its kind in the world.
최근에 개장한 에지워크는 모험을 즐기는 사람들에게 지상으로부터 356m(116층)높이의 타워 외벽에 설치된 폭 1.5m의 통로를 손이 자유로운 상태로 걸을 수 있는 기회를 제공한다. 이런 식의 고공 산책로는 세계 최초다.

Visitors walking in groups of six are attached to an overhead safety rail via a trolley and harness system.
방문객들은 6명이 한 조를 이뤄 걷는다. 방문객들은 머리 위쪽에 설치된 안전 레일에 연결된 케이블에 몸을 묶은 뒤 통로를 걷는다.

All the visitors have to sign a document acknowledging their awareness of possibilities of injuries and even death.
모든 방문객들은 부상은 물론 심지어 사망할 수도 있음을 알고 있다는 걸 확인하는 서류에 서명을 해야만 한다.

Meanwhile, the safety protection devices are checked by trained professionals for four times before each EdgeWalk.
숙련된 전문가들이 각 조의 출발 전 4차례 안전 보호 장비들을 점검한다.

Designed with the highest international safety and security standards in mind, EdgeWalk, encircling the tower with an overall length of 150 meters, lasts approximately 30 minutes and costs about 1170 yuan ($175 CAD) for each walk.
세계 최고 수준의 안전 및 보안 기준에 맞게 설계된 에지워크는 타워 외벽을 총 150m 길이로 둘러싸고 있다. 한 번 산책하는데 약 19만원을 내야하고 30분 정도 소요된다.

More than 2000 tickets have been sold since the sales of tickets began on June 1.
6월 1일부터 판매를 시작한 티켓은 지금까지 2000장이 넘게 팔렸다.
